Cookie Policy

Last updated: October 2025

Introduction

This document informs Users about the technologies that help RIDEMATE operate and achieve the purposes described below. Such technologies allow the Owner to access or store information on a User’s device — for example, by using Cookies — or to execute code (such as SDKs, scripts, or app components) that collect data automatically.
For simplicity, all such technologies are collectively referred to as “Trackers.”In this document, the term Cookies is used only where such browser-based Trackers are specifically relevant (for example, when the User accesses RIDEMATE’s website).
Some purposes for which Trackers are used may require the User’s consent. Whenever consent is granted, it can be freely withdrawn at any time by following the instructions in this document.
RIDEMATE uses both first-party Trackers (managed directly by the Owner) and third-party Trackers (managed by external service providers). Unless otherwise specified, third-party providers may access the Trackers they manage.

How RIDEMATE Uses Trackers

Data Provided Directly by Users

RIDEMATE uses Trackers for several purposes, grouped by category below.

1. Strictly Necessary Trackers

These Trackers are essential for RIDEMATE’s operation and to provide the requested service. They include session management, authentication, load balancing, and cookie consent storage.

Examples:

  • Firebase Authentication and Database (Google LLC) – Used for secure login sessions, notifications, and data persistence.
    Place of processing: EU / USA
    Personal Data processed: device identifiers, session tokens, usage logs.

2. Functional Trackers

These enable enhanced user experience and functionalities, such as push notifications or communication through forms.
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google LLC) – Sends push notifications related to ride updates, bookings, and messages.
    Place of processing: EU / USA
    Personal Data processed: device ID, notification tokens.
  • SendGrid (Twilio Inc.) – Manages transactional emails (e.g., confirmations, password resets).
    Place of processing: USA
    Personal Data processed: email address, communication metadata.

3. Performance and Analytics Trackers

Used to understand how the app is used and to improve functionality, reliability, and safety. These do not track Users across other services and are anonymized whenever possible.

Examples:

  • Firebase Analytics (Google LLC) – Measures app performance and detects crashes or bugs.
    Place of processing:
    EU / USA
    Personal Data processed: app usage statistics, device data, crash logs.

4. Geolocation Trackers

RIDEMATE may request access to the User’s device location only for drivers (riders) and only once per trip — to confirm proximity at the ride’s start and end.
  • Google Maps Platform (Google LLC)
    Purpose: Verify pickup/drop-off proximity.
    Personal Data processed: approximate GPS location, time of check.
    Place of processing: USA.

5. Marketing Trackers

RIDEMATE does not currently use advertising or cross-context marketing Trackers. If this changes, Users will be notified and consent will be requested in advance.

Managing Preferences

Users can manage or withdraw their consent at any time:
  • via the privacy choices panel within RIDEMATE;
  • by changing device settings (for app-level permissions, such as geolocation or push notifications);
  • or by adjusting browser cookie settings (for the RIDEMATE web version).

How to Control or Delete Cookies

Users may configure their browser or device to:
  • See which Cookies or similar technologies are stored;
  • Block specific Cookies or Trackers;
  • Delete existing Cookies from their browser.
For guidance, please refer to the official instructions for these browsers:
Mobile users can manage certain tracking settings via:
  • iOS: Settings → Privacy → Tracking / Location Services
    Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads or Location access

Opting Out of Interest-Based Advertising

RIDEMATE does not use interest-based advertising at this time.
For general control over ad personalization on mobile apps, Users may use AppChoices (Digital Advertising Alliance) or system-level “Limit Ad Tracking” settings.

Consequences of Refusing Trackers

Users are free to disable non-essential Trackers.
However, refusing essential or functional Trackers may prevent RIDEMATE from operating properly (for example, login, chat, or booking functionality may not work).
